Today Ilford Town Ward PCSO`s SETHI,TITCOMBE and ALFRED attended the Al Bayan Welfare Centre and Mosque to support a community engagement and police recruitment event. The purpose of the visit was to engage with members of the local community, promote career opportunities within the Metropolitan Police Service, and encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds to consider a career in policing. During the event, PCSO SETHI delivered a presentation outlining the different career pathways available within the Metropolitan Police, including roles as a Police Constable, Detective, and Police Community Support Officer (PCSO). I spoke about the importance of community representation within policing and highlighted how the Metropolitan Police aims to reflect the diversity of London's communities. The presentation covered entry requirements, training opportunities, career progression, employee benefits, and the values expected of those serving within the Metropolitan Police. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of integrity, courage, respect, and commitment to public service. Attendees were encouraged to consider how a policing career provides an opportunity to make a positive difference within their own communities whilst developing valuable skills and experience. Community members were provided with information regarding the online application process and were directed to additional recruitment materials available at the venue. Attendees actively listened to the presentation and several individuals engaged in conversations afterwards to seek further information about recruitment pathways and eligibility criteria. The event provided a positive opportunity to strengthen relationships between the Metropolitan Police and the local community, improve awareness of policing careers, and encourage greater community representation within the organisation. Overall, the engagement was well received and contributed towards building trust, confidence, and ongoing dialogue with members of the community.
